Thrace is a part of Vesperia and both are parts of Sarantium.
This Duke has specific responsibility over the military endeavours of the realm. He or she is the leader of the army "Legio Ducatem Thracae" and is chosen from the sitting Centurions by the Curia as a whole.
The two Dukes, specifically the Praetor and the Legatus, hold full power over the realm and have the power to veto each other's decisions. They sit for terms of one half year and are chosen by the Curia from their members.
These nobles have devoted themselves to service of the Thracian army. They lead soldiers and auxiliary nobles in battle and are themselves commanded by the Centurions.
These are most powerful landholders of the realm. They lead a noble house of Thrace, they rule over a region of land and they sit on the Curia. A Governor is appointed with the nomination of one of the Dukes and subsequent validation by the majority of the realm's nobility.
This Duke has specific responsibility over the administration and governance of the lands and lords of the realm. The Praetor is chosen from the Governors by the Curia as a whole.
A Centurion leads a specific Cohort of the Thracian Legion. They personally command a strong military force and direct a number of Legionaries. They sit on the Curia. A Centurion is appointed with the nomination of one of the Dukes and subsequent validation by the majority of the realm's nobility.
The people of Thrace are fiercely independent and a proud of their land. Since the times when the land was known as Thannath they have felt neglected by their overlords and oppressed by foreign lieges.
Thrace has an ongoing feud with the Vedahorn Vale whose nobles have historically disdained and looked down on Thrace. How the feud started we no longer know or care, but the hatred is maintained vehemently. Cross the border there are constant skirmishes and raids, nevertheless, the two realms are united in their loyalty to Vesperia as a whole.
The realm is ruled by two Dukes, individually they have particular responsibilities but have full power to veto each other. The Dukes nominate (but cannot revoke) members to a legislative assembly (the Curia) composed of the Governors and Centurions. Every half year (1.5 rl months) the Curia choose which two of their number shall serve as Dukes for the next term (a serving Duke may be reinstated or replaced here).
