Cardenal de Solis en Nueva Luria
-
Title: Cardenal de Solis en Nova Lúria (Cardinal of Solis in Nova Lúria)
Role and Duties:
The Cardenal de Solis is the highest ecclesiastical authority within the Kingdom of Nova Lúria, acting as the chief representative of the Solisian Church in the realm. This position carries immense influence, often being a key figure in advising the monarch and nobility on matters of faith, politics, and morality. The Cardinal is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Solisian Church's presence in the kingdom, from religious ceremonies and doctrine to the management of the Church’s wealth and lands.
In Nova Lúria, there may be multiple Cardinals serving at any given time, each one representing different provinces or cities under the kingdom’s rule. The Cardinals of Nova Lúria work closely with the Solar Ecclesiarch, the supreme leader of the Solisian Church, though they maintain authority over their local regions and have significant influence over the ecclesiastical and secular matters in their jurisdictions.
Responsibilities Include:
-
Spiritual Leadership: Guiding the faithful in Nova Lúria, ensuring adherence to Solisian doctrine, and leading grand ceremonies or religious festivals.
-
Political Advisory Role: Offering counsel to the monarch and nobility on matters of governance, often being a moral and spiritual voice in the royal court.
-
Ecclesiastical Administration: Overseeing local parishes, monasteries, and abbeys within their designated territories, ensuring that the Solisian faith flourishes.
-
Judicial Authority: In some cases, the Cardinal may serve as a judge in ecclesiastical matters or disputes, particularly when they intersect with matters of law or the kingdom’s governance.
-
Diplomacy: Representing the interests of Nova Lúria within the greater Solisian Church, possibly negotiating with other regions and managing the kingdom's relationship with the Solar Ecclesiarch.
Hierarchy:
- The Cardenal de Solis is one of the highest-ranking officials in the Solisian Church in Nova Lúria, often only subordinate to the Solar Ecclesiarch and the Eternal Curia overseeing multiple regions.
- While the position is appointed by the Solar Ecclesiarch, it is often influenced by the monarch or the nobility of Nova Lúria, with the cardinal holding his post at the pleasure of both the church and the royal family.
Role in the Court:
In the royal court of Nova Lúria, the Cardinal is often treated as a high-ranking noble. While not a member of the nobility by birth, their power comes from their religious stature, making them one of the most respected individuals in the realm. They are frequently invited to important royal councils, where their influence extends beyond matters of the faith into political and military decisions.

Realm Description
The Kingdom of Nova Lúria arose from the ashes of a bygone era, a successor to the once-mighty Hawks whose slumber left their lands vulnerable to the predations of the Rathgarian Confederation. The Rathgarian raids ravaged the once-thriving domains of the Hawks, plunging the region into chaos and disarray. Yet, amid the destruction, the Rathgari sought to consolidate their conquest, appointing a local noble, King Enacio, to rule over the fragmented territories they now controlled.
King Enacio Leal Seriaro, a figure of ambition and vision, sought to unify the fractured successor states—including the province of Beluna—into a single Kingdom, striving to forge a new Lurian identity from the remnants of the old. Though he achieved nominal unification, his dream of a cohesive and unified realm proved elusive. The disparate cultures, loyalties, and ambitions of Nova Lúria’s people resisted the bonds of a shared identity.
King Enacio soon succumbed to the slumber that has plagued many a First One, Nova Lúria soon descended into a period of strife. The Royal Council, fractured by internal divisions, selected Verana Meona, Duchess of Jaramid, as his successor. Verana, however, lacked the strength or resolve to govern the kingdom. Her conversion to The Solisian Church raised eyebrows and her subsequent abdication in favor of the Solar Ecclesiarch Helia I cast a shadow of suspicion over her short reign. Was Verana merely a puppet of The Ecclesia, or had the Solisian Church orchestrated events to seize control of the Kingdom?
Under Ecclesiastical stewardship, Nova Lúria found itself at a crossroads. It remained a realm of "strangers," a patchwork of peoples with no shared identity or unifying purpose. The Solisian Church, through its devotion to Aeternum Solis, endeavored to weave a spiritual and cultural fabric capable of binding the kingdom together. Yet, doubts lingered as to whether faith alone could heal the divisions that Enacio's crown could not.
Externally, Nova Lúria faced grave threats. The Erstes Imperium and Ascalon, both powers of significant influence, viewed the kingdom's turbulent succession with suspicion. To them, Nova Lúria was a battleground for influence, a land whose fragile unity presented both opportunity and danger. Whether the Ecclesia could stabilize the region, establish a cohesive Lurian identity, and repel foreign encroachments remained to be seen.
