House Bardach-Quelius was founded by Aileen Bardach-Quelius, after ascending to the throne of Luthadriel. She is the great-granddaughter of King Eoghan I, the King that unified Caorran, and the granddaughter of Nihl Perenthis Quelius, father of the founder of Luthadriel.
Since the Luthadrielian people highly respect both families as the founders and unifiers of their lands, Aileen, despite being born a Cousland, chose to adopt a new name to better reflect her position as the Countess of Luthadriel, creating House Bardach-Quelius as a cadet of House Cousland.
