While the Tribunes are elected, the Senators are appointed by the Triumvirate from the most proeminent nobles of the Western Triumvirate. It is usually an inheritable position for life (if not stripped by higher powers).

In the annals of the West's turbulent history, a coveted seat of authority emerged, a position held by but a trio of paramount leaders. This exalted post, known as the Triumvir, found its origins ensnared in the aftermath of the crumbled Western Confederation.

In the wake of the Confederation's demise, when its dominion fractured like a splintered sword, two sovereigns, Asran and Cailean, their hearts afire with discontent, dared to petition Empress Sharona for an augmentation of their powers. They spoke with a voice that echoed through marble halls, asserting that if the West were indeed an assembly of equal sovereigns, then a weightier hand must be granted to them in the realm's governance.

Such words were a cauldron of tempestuous persuasion, and they stirred unease in Sharona's mind, for she glimpsed the specter of political tumult looming on the horizon. And thus, in wary concession, the Empress relinquished a portion of her dominion, orchestrating the transmutation of the Confederation's timeworn mantle into a new imperial paradigm. A triumvirate arose, a trinity of colossi chosen from the echelons of might that the realm could muster.

Yet, destiny seldom heeds the counsel of even the most potent rulers. When Sharona, in an audacious gambit, laid siege to the coveted port city of Naxos, wrenching it from the clutches of the Ecclesia, the very firmament trembled. A dire edict followed, a proclamation of excommunication that rang through the corridors of power, sealing the Empress's fate. And so, the two remaining Triumvirs, seizing the reins of circumstance, forged a coup from one's dire misstep.

As moons waxed and waned, the illustrious title of Empress, so potent in its command, was enveloped by the shadows of obscurity. In its place, the loftier honorific of Triumvir was emblazoned upon the annals of the West.

Realm Description

The Western Triumvirate remains, foremost, an Imperial Confederation of Equal States. It was recently reformed with the intention of bringing a lasting peace to the far-west. Its goal is to establish a cultural unification of the western sphere.

Member-States and Subrealms are offered near full autonomy in its pursuit for domestic prosperity. All foreign diplomacy related to the Empire are matters for the Three Emperors and their advisors.

Dominant and Official Religion: Aeternum Solis. While it is the official religion, Member-States are not forced to convert upon joining the Empire, although it is a vital component of the western cultural identity, shared by most of its population.

The Rise of the Confederated Imperium of the Western States

The Dissolution of the Republic of the Grand Fate and the Joining of Caorran

The Kingdom of Caorran emerged as a new Duchy within the later stages of the Republic of the Grand Fate. It was founded through the efforts of the esteemed Caorrani hero, Eoghan Bardach, who assumed the role of the inaugural King following the dissolution of the Republic.

Upon his ascent to the throne of this newfound independent realm, King Eoghan I recognized the significance of being part of a larger political entity. Consequently, he chose to align his kingdom with the Western Confederation, and in doing so, he earned the esteemed position of an Arch-Chancellor within the Confederated Imperium of the Western States.

Under King Eoghan I's leadership, the Kingdom experienced remarkable expansion, encompassing a peak of 86 estates. This flourishing period also witnessed the emergence of eight noble Houses, which served as Dukes, Marquesses, and Counts, collectively supporting the King in his rule.

The Arrival of the Asrians and the Conversion to the Aeternum Solis

The historical narrative takes a significant turn with the arrival of the unslumbered Asrians, led by Asran 'Luxferre', in the western wastelands. This event not only marked the fall of the Wastes of the West but also heralded the ascendancy of the Kingdom of Asrania. As a gesture of goodwill, Empress Sharona Arbuckle integrated the Asrians into the Confederation, incorporating them as its latest Member-State.

Meanwhile, during this period, the world experienced a slumberblight pandemic. King Eoghan I and many Caorrani nobles succumbed to this slumberblight. In the wake of this unexpected slumber, Duke Cailean Cousland of Gallaran assumed the throne, thereby setting in motion a series of significant events.

Observing the fervor for the Eternal Sun exhibited by the Asrians, along with their remarkable progress and their efforts, such as the Crusade against Falconreach, King Cailean I decided to embrace the Aeternum Solis. Collaborating with Duke Avalon Hope, he orchestrated the sweeping conversion of the Caorrani populace to this faith.

The slumbering of Duke Altus Kruger and the Elector Realm of Katanwald further bolstered the Asrians, enabling them to extend their dominion into the slumber-stricken eastern territories.

With the two largest Subrealms within the Confederation now sharing a common faith, the establishment of new Cathedrals in Fairshore and in The Lowlands further amplified the influence of this faith. Aligned with the objective of achieving cultural cohesion across the western sphere to ensure the Confederation's stability, Empress Sharona Arbuckle resolved to convert and declare the Aeternum Solis as the official religion of the Confederation.

The Triumvirate Reformation

As the active Electorates now encompassed Valentia, Caorran, and the Kingdom of Asrania, a decision was made to restructure the Confederation into a fully-fledged Empire, governed by a Triumvirate chosen from the Electorates.

The consequences of this reformation for the broader global landscape remain to be seen, offering an intriguing prospect for the unfolding future.
