The Chief of the Ranao governs the realm. In order to address the relative isolation of the realm's estates and efficiently deal with the scarcity of food, the power of the Chief is absolute.
However, they are elected every year, and voting is counted per head.
The Chiefdom of Ranao was formed after the A'lam Al-jinn conquest of the western exclave of the Eternal Moon. Rich in metal alloys, the isolationist peoples of the mountains were reformed into miners and traders under the guidance of their new mercantile leaders.
Ranao holds the distinction of being the oldest of the Princely States of A'lam Al-jinn.
