The Master of Ports of Kvernes Isle is the official appointed to oversee the harbours of Kvernes Isle. It is their duty to oversee trade, so that it follows law, and proper taxes are paid to the Baron. It is their duty to oversee the production of new vessels, as well as new enterprises.
This is the rulership position for the realm.
Kvernes Isle is a temperate island situated in Kvernes Bay. Originally the island was a home to freebooters, smugglers and pirates. However, this changed when it was turned into a maritime fortress and trade-hub by an ambitious First One. Briefly, it was a part of the Kingdom of Magvel, but as that Kingdom fell to the curse of slumber, Kvernes Isle became a part of the Duchy of Fairshore. As a part of Fairshore, it was for many years within the dominions of the Grand Fate, widening trade connections and causing industry to soar as it was a vital link to Fairshore, and the continent at large. Slumber would come, alongside violent conflicts, and once the Grand Fate was dissolved, the island was soon lost to Fairshore as brutal raiders came to once peaceful shores.
For a time, the island was held under brutal occupation by the Hawk-supported Knights Raetia, who suppressed the local population and closed the harbours so vital for life-giving trade. With their slumber however, and the return of Gabriel Flambard, son and heir of the founder of Fairshore, the island has seen a resurgence in fortune.
The harbours of Kvernes Isle are once more open for free trade, with few restrictions. The numerous watchtowers along the shores, and the town walls are manned by the local population once more.
