Salt deposits found within the barony have combined with certain forests, allowing the wood to absorb a unique "flavour". When this wood is used to smoke the daily catch of fish it creates a unique flavour known only to this region.
Over a pint of ale a few brave souls might occasionally be heard to suggest that the barony takes its name from the sometimes salty disposition of the baron...but only in whispers.
