Exemplar of the Hawk

Those members of the realm present when the Lands of the Hawk were formally recognised by High King Jason. These nobles command great respect as founders of the realm, but have a great responsibility to be examples of the virtues extolled by the customs of the Hawk.

Protector
-
Protectors are those tasked with the protection of a holding of the Hawks. Generally they command a Barony or larger holding and are responsible for the defence of those lands.
Under the rule of Alexios Eirenikos Protector was a title assigned to any whom ruled a realm under the dominion of Hawks. They were tasked with the protection of a holding of the Hawks and given many autonomous powers to ensure their ability to meet their duties.
When Taticus Symmachus was elected Emperor the title was given far more power and correspondingly the means to earn it codified. To earn the position of Protector a Hawk Baron must first prove themselves to their peers, requiring a simple majority of serving Protectors to endorse them. They then must travel to Hawks Hold, to be admitted to the Grand Temple deep within the mountain and stand before the Four Fathers judgement.
Those whom are deemed worthy are awarded a position upon the Peer Council. They are also granted near complete autonomy to govern their domain as they see fit.

Responsible for ensuring every settlement within Hawk territory has adequate numbers of well trained militia. He also takes command of the combined forces of Hawks in defensive conflicts.
The position is traditionally provided with the settlement of Stone Hold.

Realm Description
When Prefect Alexios first landed in the Isles and swore service to High King Jason, he attempted to re-found the mountain empire of his homeland. As other Elder flocked to his banner and brought their own cultural heritage Hawks has struggled to define itself and its customs.
Now an empire in its own right, the Hawks Military is renown around the world for both the quality of its troops, and the ruthless application of force by its commanders. When the prefect stood down as liege of the realm, his general Taticus Symmachus was elected to take his place. An odd man, sullen and withdrawn since the death of his wife long before the formation of the Dominion, Taticus has overseen a withdrawal of Hawks from the world at large, and favors policies of isolation. The armies of Hawks still march on occasion, to ensure they do not suffer sloth and diminishment, but the aggressive expansion of their holdings under Alexios's rule are no longer pursued.
