Realm Description

Hornwatch's Mark is composed mostly of plains, sided with Stagwood forest, whose name comes from the peculiar buck race House Blackstag uses as mounts. Albeit being one of the farthest territories of Ascalon, the people of the Mark are mostly of Ascalonian extractions, and it is evident from their clothings and the architecture, clearly based on that of the corelands. Proud and usually welcoming, the men of the Mark nurture a special hatred for the Lowlanders, a grudge born from the bloody war that has been fought when Falconreach was nothing more than a County, that has seen all of Hornwatch occupied for a time. These territories provide a huge amount of grain and game, making the Mark one of the granaries of Falconreach. Its capital is Blackstag Lodge, a fortified small town blooming with expansion, that has proved to be a vanguard against northern invasions. In the south lies Black Lake, whose name comes from the small lake in the center of the settlement, whose floor lies so deep that the water gets a dark hue, and that has gained the appreciation of the citizens with his clear, sweet waters. In the midst of the Stagwood forest one can find Woodcrossing, the main wood processing settlement of Hornwatch, in fact almost the entirety of the local economy revolves around lumbering and wood processing. The southernmost border is guarded by Fire Falls, once a proud city it was almost burnt to the ground during the Two Tors war, and the hail of fire arrows that started the big fire is the cause of its new name after the reconstruction of the settlement. A peculiar tradition of Hornwatch is the devotion toward the Late lord Helm Talonclaw, stemmed at first from the high regard the ruling House Blackstag kept him, it evolved in time into a small cult, with shrines placed at crossroads where farmers and citizens leave little offers to the Spirit of Helm, the Beheaded Martyt, praying for protection and good fortune; as of late the cult began spreading further as more and more whispered about the fact that the preserved head of Helm, that has gone missing from the time of his beheading, was secretly brought in the Mark before its official founding by some loyal retainers and well hidden somewhere in the land, as such more and more of the newfound cult began to roam the land, trying to locate what they consider a Sacred Relic.
