The Mormaer, or "Sea-Lord,"is the ruler of Tìrean na Mara.

Tànaiste

The second in Command of the Clan, and designated successor. If the Mormaer should perish, the Tànaiste will assume control of the Clan until a new Mormaer is elected by the Derbfine.

The High-Reeve acts in the name of the Mormaer if the Mormaer is absent. Duties include acting as a Steward in the absence of the Mormaer, passing judgement, and marshalling the Clan's armies.

Realm Description

Clan Holdings:

Dùn Naomhaig = Dunnyveg in the Continental tongue, meaning "Fort of the Galleys. This region is known for its shipbuilding, and reliance on the Sea.

Tòrr an Tuirc = Can be best translated as the "Hill of the Boar," so named after the hill on which the settlement sits. Boars are prevalent in this Scrubland, and can grow to an enormous size.

Dùn Dearg = "The Red Fort," or the Red Castle, sits on a promontory overlooking Loch Leòd and the Northern Sea. The Castle is named after the particular reddish stone used in its construction, of a particular hue unique to this region.

Caisteal Leòdhais = "Leòd's," or "Ljótr's Castle." Looking North up the bay that forms Loch Leòd, ships of varying size can be seen crossing the mouth, plying their trade on the Continent's Eastern shore. The oaken-wood used in Dùn Naomhaig's ship construction comes from this region.

Dùn Clàrsach = The Fort of the Harp. It is a region known for its generosity to Bards and other travelling bearers of music and tales.

Mèinnean = This harsh landscape has little to offer, and the people of the Clan make their living from the paltry scraps they find in the hillside.

Bàideanach - "The Drowned Land." Floods are frequent in this coastal estate, and the autumn storms can wash out roads and pathways, delaying travel.

Tròndairnis - "Thrond's Headland." Hills from neighbouring regions form a small headland, rising above the Tròndairnis plain. There sits the ruins of Dùn Trònd, a former ruler of these lands in the ancient past.

Dùn Àrasaig - "Fort of the River Mouth Bay." The old castle lies close to the sea, with the newer village further inland.

Baile a'Bheòlain - Sometimes pronounced Balveolan by southron tongues. Meaning "Beòlan's Farm", names after an early settler to these parts.

Rubha na Cailleach - "Old Woman's Point." Named after a legendary princess who was said buried on the point of land jutting into the Eastern Sea. It is said she wanted to feel the winds from across the sea, the land of her birth.

Dubhras - The Black Wood. The forests are said to be darker here, and those who stray from the woodland paths are filled with melancholy and sorrow.

Lag a' Mhuilinn - "The Hollow of the Mill," or Lagavulin in the language of the Sassenach.

Beinn na Saighde - "The mountain of the arrow." In ages past, legend has it that a First One loosed and arrow which lodged itself at the top of the mountain. The one who could find the arrow, and return it to the village, would be granted great wisdom.

An t-Sean Tulaich - "The Old Green Hill." A meeting place of old, it is now the site of a village. A stone circle lies outside of the village walls.
